Electric Heat Rebates

Energy Efficiency Credit Program:

Northwest Rural Public Power District and Tri-State G&T Association, our power supplier, offer rebates through our Energy Efficiency Credit Program to our customers who install energy-efficient heat pumps and HVAC equipment.

SEER=Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating
COP=Co-efficent Of Performance

HVAC -- Tri-State's Contribution

1. Controlled Electric Units
- Electric Thermal Storage units/timers $16/kW
- Thermal Slabs/timers $12/kW
- Resistive Units/timers $6/kW

HVAC -- Northwest Rural's Contribution

1. Uncontrolled Electric Units
- Resistive heating units, i.e. baseboards, cove heaters, ceiling panels, etc: $8/kW
- Electric Thermal Storage units: $12/kW
2. Controlled Electric Units
- Electric Thermal Storage units/timers $4/kW
- Thermal Slabs/timers $4/kW
- Resistive Units/timers $4/kW

Efficiency standards for the building that contains the unit are defined as the sum of the 'R' values of ceiling and wall insulation: existing building = 30; new building = 49. Efficiency standards are applicable to all heating types.

  • Note: A completed Energy Efficiency Audit form must be submitted for whole-house space heating payments.
  • Note: There is no separate payment for electric resistive heat back up.
  • Note: Rebates must be requested within 180 days of installation.
